Weekly Challenge #3 "Eyes Wide Shut" Slideshow

Here's the slideshow.  So amazing.*

*you can still submit tiles until Saturday at midnight to have them included in the slideshow. After Saturday at midnight, you can still add your name to the linkey, but your tile won't be included in the roundup. :) love laura

This was quite the challenge!

can i just say that i'm really loving the community that is coming about? i just spent a good half hour going to each blog and checking out the comments!  That's what i hoped would happen, that we'd all support each other.  it excites me to no end.

i find it interesting how many people complained commented on how their strings were smaller than they thought they'd be - as i said in a comment on Carole Ohl's post:

it's pretty interesting how so many people are having the same urge to purge their strings. I had a REALLY hard time with that. Sometimes i try too hard to make 'art' instead of just making a Zentangle in its purest form, concentrating on delivering each pen stroke with deliberance and finding that space of soft focus.
and then i saw this on Leann Weih's post at Summers Studio
"Curiously, when I just let my mind empty, the pattern just flowed from my pen."

Everyone: Take a deep breath and repeat after me: "It's about the Process, not the Product!"

SMILES!

  4. WOW!!! Each tangle is more beautiful in one way or another than its neighbors. It is most gratifying to me to be a part of this on-going flow of energy that tangling seems to be producing. Thank you for doing all the facilitating and for producing the slide shows!

  7. It's so awesome to see the slideshow. There is a beautiful continuity that is more evident when viewing them this way (although it's lots of fun visiting all the sites!).

Thanks for all your work on this project, Laura. I find myself wishing the week was shorter so we could see what the next challenge is :) It's not easy for most humans to look forward to a Monday, but you've managed to make Mondays something to be happy about for quite a few people!!

  8. Add my thanks to the time and effort you put into this for all of us to enjoy. Even though I try to visit most of the sites the slideshow is a special treat because there are always the surprise of seeing the "new" tangles that others have emailed to you. Love it.

  10. I am simply blown away by the talent and generosity of those making Zentangles. Thank you for your work and leadership in this fun exercise. A reason to happily anticipate Monday is a great change to "the usual"! It's really exciting to see a string someone is going to tangle, then the finished Zentangle - I'm going to try to remember to record my string so it's easier to compare to the finished piece. This is cool!

  13. Laura, I agree with you that seeing this community grow and grow each week, and to see how everyone supports each other, is such a wonderful thing! I love seeing all the new blogs and zentangles on each site, but this slideshow is really a neat way to review the week's work. Thank You very much for all the work you put into this, and for making all of us look forward to Monday's now.

  15. Hi, I posted on the linkey thing but it's not included in the slideshow. I just wondered if there was a problem?

  16. Wow, Laura! As you say, there's a real sense of community happening, here. I can see tendrils of tangles reaching out in the sunlight and growing all around the globe, connecting us all. Some of us are writing blogs for the first time (like me). And your Weekly Challenges have been the catalyst for the birth of a supportive, inspirational, vibrant, worldwide online tangle community! Whether this was the original intention or not... you've succeeded in creating something Brand New. This particular community (to this extent) didn't exist three short weeks ago! Part of the "process" of these Weekly Challenges "journey". I can't wait to see where it takes us all next - but I can really feel each of our individual creations being lifted up to new heights of confidence on the shoulders of this loving assembly of Tanglers! Together we really are more than the sum of our parts. Remember what happened in Tolkein's Lord of the Rings after Entmoot? Well we're not going to war... but we may well be about to awaken the forest! That is why I'm so excited to see what happens next!!

  18. I only happened on this challenge through another ceramic bead artist. I love this and love seeing all of what came out of this last week. As a life long 'doodler' who can not resist making marks on the page, this is such a wonderful outlet for me. I found it suprisingly purposeful and meditative. Many thanks and I'll definitely be back.

  19. That slide show is so much fun to sit and watch everyone's before and after (having their names too is cool so we can get to know each other's styles as well). This is a great community to be a part of! Thanks for being a great initiator to get us all together!

  20. I love to see your challenges. But when I see the slideshow I don't remember what is was. Maybe you could write the challenge just after the number?
Thank you for the inspiration, keep up the good work!
