Weekly Challenge #191

Happy Monday everyone.  First of all i want to say a very big Hello and warm welcome to any of you coming to the blog after hearing about about Zentangle on ABCs The View on Friday.  Welcome to the Diva's Weekly Zentangle Challenge!!

For those of you who don't know, the Zentangle-internet world was all a-BUZZ on friday because Rosie O'Donnell talked about Zentangle on the show, and how she also got Howard Stern into tangling and how he's a Tangler too!  ROSIE!! Call me!! :) Let's be best friends!!

***

So, anyway - Remember last week when i said that the boys were starting to feel sick? Well, this has led to a full on house hold of sickness.  Chewie, Artoo, B-rad and I have all been fighting the same cold, in varying degrees.

For whatever reason, i get sinus-y colds far worse than B-rad.  (He gets really bad GI bugs, though) Chewie has had a wicked cough, B-rad has had the sore throat and congestion, and poor Artoo has it worse than everyone.   No one has slept very well this past week, and everyone is exhausted and we are sooooo over this cold.
Hot Toddys for Mom

Saline Nebulizers for Artoo.
We've been pretty low key all week, due to all the sickness.  But one cool new thing is

So flippin' cute
Chewie's new glasses!! Just when you thought he couldn't get any cuter.

He and i watched the video clip of Rosie talking about ZT on The View, and so he and I started tangling on a (knock off) munny doll we got from the dollar store.

so talented
He's pretty sure that when our "munny" is on The View, we will win.  (What it is, exactly, that he thinks we are going to win i'm not entirely sure.  But he wanted to tangle all weekend with me, so i'll take it!)

BROTHERS!
i just wanted to share this pic because i think it's super cute.

Before we get started on this week's challenge, though - i wanted to let you know about what's coming up in November.  Back at the end of September we took Artoo to see an eye specialist about surgery.  At the end of the appointment he told us he'd like to get Artoo in for surgery before Christmas.  When i spoke with his secretary, she told us we were realistically looking at February.  So, we were surprised when she called us last week to tell us that Artoo had been scheduled for surgery....NEXT FRIDAY (November 7)!!

Everything is happening super fast and we aren't really sure what the recovery will be like for Artoo.  We will be travelling to Calgary, AB to have the surgery done.

That being said - i have lined up some wonderful guest posts for the entire month of November so i can focus on my family while we figure out what's what, post surgery wise.   So, without further ado, here's this week's challenge, and i'll catch y'all back in December!

Weekly Challenge #191: "Monotangle: Betweed"
Recently i was working on a zentangle piece where i was using one of my go-to tangles, betweed, and i remembered there being a youtube video wherein Maria demonstrates how to do the tangle betweed so i watched it for a bit of a refresher:

(here it is:)

and i realized that i always do betweed in the exact same way, so maybe i should try some of the variations Maria shows in her video.

So your mission this week, should you choose to accept it: Create a monotangle using only the tangle Betweed.  (A monotangle is a term that originated here on this blog to describe a tile done using ONLY ONE tangle and it's variations.)  So, Betweed it up everyone!!

i'm in love with the bars of betweed on the bottom

Have a great week! There will be regular challenges posted through november by some wonderfully talented Certified Zentangle Teachers, so come on back each week and see what they've got in store for you!!

See you in December!

If you have a blog, add the site-specific URL where your tile is posted to the linkey machine below! Don't forget to link back here so that others can join in the fun! (if you don't know how to find this, you can see my half assed tutorial here) Also, please feel free to come back often and visit the links of those people on the linkey machine - don't forget to leave a comment or feedback, everyone loves feedback. ;)
i'm currently trying to decide what to do about the challenge slideshows (read here)... if you have any ideas i would love to hear from you!
If you don't have a blog but still want to participate, you can email your tile to me and i will put it in the slideshow. (send submissions to: weeklychallenge at mail.com[not gmail, just mail]. I just ask that you put in the subject line: Challenge # ________
The deadline for each weekly challenge is Saturday night so that i can round everyone up by Sunday. What this means is that i will stop adding tiles to the slideshow on Sunday. You're still more than welcome to do the challenges and add your name to the linkey machine. - although to be honest the deadline is pretty forgiving.
I will be more diligent with the linkey machine - by editing out the ones that don't work, the doubles, the links that lead to nowhere, the links that go just to blog home pages (this is why we need those site specific urls), and the spam. And there is some spam. PLEASE do not put your *home* page in the linkey machine... please? for me??

  26. I see I was supposed to comment. I'm new to Zentangle - I took a class a couple of weeks ago and I'm working on learning tangles. I'm also working on figuring out how to comment! I can't figure out how to get it to list my name, but I'm Nicole Gates. Thanks for the challenge, and all the best to your son!
