Weekly Challenge #240

Hey hey everyone,

thanks so much for the reprieve last night.
It's an exciting night in Canada here.  We've just finally ousted our evil robot former Prime Minister Stephen Harper - and we elected this guy.
Here's our Honourable Prime Minister Justin Trudeau

not to get too political, but Stephen had to go.  I voted today, and while i happily and proudly cast my ballot i thought about how it wasn't that long ago that i wouldn't have been allowed to do so.  Or that if had been born with a different colour of skin my vote would not have been deemed worthy.  And how so many people still do not have the right to cast their ballot.

my voice mattered!

but, enough about that.
Artoo had a very exciting week.  On Friday my special baby became an official Big Boy - and turned Five years old!
My little dude has come so far
Sometimes it's so hard to believe that he was ever once so small - and also?? that he's now so big.

I was helper mom in Kindergarten at school on Friday, which meant a family hug at recess.
Being helper mom was so much fun, Artoo showed me his class and i met his friends, and we went to the library and to the gym and to art class and music class!! A full morning!! complete with a recess family hug.
artoo loves cheesecake.
who doesn't?
After a birthday dinner of Spaghetti (artoo's request) we had cake and then opened presents.  Artoo loves music.  So much.  Often he will just play music on the stereo and sing along.

for his birthday, we gave him an iTunes gift card....

i have never in my life seen a kid more excited to have "monies for iTunes downloads!!" than this boy.

He had a very busy birthday weekend as well, with a very fun birthday party.  He invited some of his friends, as well as some of his new friends from school - and everyone had a great time.  Luckily for us, we have a huge poplar tree in our backyard, and there were so many leaves from the tree.... we resisted cleaning them up for the sole purpose of playing in the leaves with the birthday guests.

Sweet Cuppin' Cakes!
B-rad was the man of the hour, as he was the one with the rake.  He stood at the bottom of the slide and made pile after pile for the kids to slide into.
Woo!
so much fun

Go Artoo Go!!!
after the birthday party the grandparents came over for dinner and around then was when B-rad and i started to notice he was fading, and not feeling very well.  We put him to bad that night, and when he woke up he was really feeling crummy.  Fevers, and coughing, and general not-feeling-good.  So tired.  Not eating very well.  The poor guy...  Sunday was pretty much a write off for us.

he is still not feeling great, but i hope he'll feel better soon.

Weekly Challenge #240: Birthday Leaves!
This week's challenge: Be inspired by the season.  If you live where it's autumn, like here, find inspiration from the fall colours, the leaves, the crunch of the leaves beneath your feet, maybe the frost on the branches... if you live where it's spring, maybe you're inspired by the bright green buds, or the new blossoms.

here's my tile:
Lovely!!
My tile was created using the very amazing step by step in the Tints on Tan kit created by two lovely CZTs, Marty Deckel and Jenny Peruzzi.

You don't need to add colour, or use a tan tile.  Just go where your heart takes you! maybe you'll tangle RIGHT ON a leaf like the lovely autograph leaves that Earl and Lois Stokes create in Hawaii.

Have a wonderful week everyone.
If you have a blog, add the site-specific URL where your tile is posted to the linkey machine below! Don't forget to link back here so that others can join in the fun! 1. I saw this tile posted on your Facebook page a few days ago and it inspired my ATC's for a swap I'm currently working on. Happy Birthday Artoo!

  2. Happy birthday to the little BIG guy. I know a lot of grown ups who get sick after partying too much too (just kidding). I hope he is on the mend. Congrats on your election. Now hope we in the US manage to make the right choice next November.

  7. Love the photos of the birthday boy! School will introduce all new bugs for him to fend off. Hopefully it will get easier as he gets older (but who doesn't want to keep a 5 year old five forever, they are so dear).

  18. Here's my tile for this challenge. Unfortunately, the background color scanned a little paler than it actually is. Thanks again for all the work you put into the challenges; even when all is not well with your family. And a belated Happy Birthday to Artoo. He's turning into quite the little man. Hope he is feeling much better by now.
