Weekly Challenge #312

Happy Monday all!

I hope you all had a great Easter weekend, if that's your thing!

The Easter Bunny visited our house on Sunday morning, and brought the boys so much candy and some toys!  Watching them run around looking for eggs was so awesome.  Artoo was super excited about the York Peppermint patties (that he kept calling After 8s) he could barely contain himself each time he found one!

The boys and their Easter Morning Haul
We went to Grandma and Grandpa's for lunch and right away Chewie ran off to play with cousins and we didn't see much of him all day.  Artoo found out we were having scalloped potatoes and ham for lunch and he declared it "The Best Easter Lunch of All Time!"  lol

YES!! SCALLOPED POTATOES!!
After all the grandkids went for a walk to the park they had another Easter egg hunt, courtesy of Auntie Lisa and Auntie Mel, and after all the candy was found they all had fun dying eggs

Now, let's get crackin!!

one of the few times Chewie was around long enough for me to snap a photo - all the artists hard at work
And, of course, i had to get my hands on some eggs too...

so bright and colourful
All in all, it was a pretty great day.   The boys are off school this week for Easter Break, so here's hoping we find some things to do together.

Weekly Challenge #312: "Coffee, Tea, or Me!"
This week's challenge is to use coffee, tea, wine, watery paint, or some other liquid: Spilled, dripped, sprayed, blotted, or ringed on your tile to create a string.

Coffee on an ATC tile

I used a pre-stained Artist Trading Card tile - stained with coffee - for my string.   Here's the end result:

Thank you to everyone who came by to watch the live stream last night.  If you'd like to be notified when i'm streaming all you need to do is create a Twitch account (It's free) and give my channel a heart to follow and receive notifications.

It was a fun crowd last night!!

have a great week!

And if you're on the Zentangle Mosaic App or Instagram - i'm @iamthediva - come on by and follow me, and i'm going to be using hashtags on the app for each of my weekly challenges. So if you're game - use the hashtag #DC312(Diva Challenge #312) for your tile this week! You can also search in the app for people's contributions to the challenge by clicking on the hashtag from inside the app, or using the search function.
If you have a blog or host your images on line (like on Flickr or Picassa or Pinterest), add the site-specific URL where your tile is posted to the linkey machine below! Don't forget to link back here so that others can join in the fun! (if you don't know how to find this, you can see my half assed tutorial here) Also, please feel free to come back often and visit the links of those people on the linkey machine - don't forget to leave a comment or feedback, everyone loves feedback. ;)
If you love the challenge as much as i do, please consider leaving a tip (tip jar in the side bar).  I write this blog for free and have no plans to make it a paid for service in the future.  Buy me a cup of coffee, or a new Micron pen!! Click the tip jar on the side for a monthly tip, but if you just wanna throw a few bucks my way THIS LINK will give you a one time option.    A very big thank you to those who have kept me in hot cups of joe. ;)

  1. In Massachusetts the weather for Easter was in the 80s. I enjoyed the Day with friends because family lives in another state. It's still warm this morning so I enjoyed doing your challenge on my deck.

  2. Hi Laura. Welcome back to the land of well people. I see you and your family did well for Easter. Well, unlike Laurie, our weather here in Oregon was, as usual, in the mid 40's F. and it has been raining off and on all during the weekend. Speaking of weekend, I got an added bonus; the doctor put me in a Boot. They call it literally a "Boot". Big heavy boot on my right foot to help with the pain. Let me back-up a bit: last thursday night I lost my balance in my dark bedroom, trying not to wake my wife, when I tripped and fell and took down a small bedside table with me...yup, I crushed the table I went down with such force and my foot hit something or something hit my foot...it's a blur to me now. X-rayed my foot, no broken bones, but a really sprained foot. Now I have to get around in my Boot. Not a lot of fun. Dr says "stay off of it". hahahahaha. Try that in everyday life. oh, well, this too shall pass. I will put up a picture of my boot on my blog, go take a look.

  6. This is a great challenge Laura. Lots of fun. I was able to use some tangles I hadn't used in awhile. So glad you are all well now and that Easter was good to you all. It's on the edge of being really nice here in Northern California. A bit cloudy today with some more rain tomorrow afternoon. Then it looks like it will be starting to clear up and be sunny! Even into the 70's for a good stretch. Woo Hoo!

  8. Wow! Easter at your house looked like lots of crazy fun!! Always love this challenge as it helps me to work outside of my comfort zone...(the perfect line, the perfect design, the perfect composition..... Type A anyone?!!!) And Thank you! I rally enjoyed "lurking" on Twitch while you did your tile Sunday night! Watching you also helped me acknowledge that I did not have "exclusive rights" to making mistakes or having difficulty choosing which tangle to put where! Hugs... 😃

  9. Many thanks for another great challenge. I managed to catch your stream a little way into it and just happened to have one of my coffee ring tiles handy so I could draw along with you. Now that my 4G has refreshed for the month I can join the chat next time;-) Your streams have inspired a challenge I've issued to myself which I shared on my blog post today. Thank you so much for all you do.

  10. Thank you for a real fun challenge and for sharing the pictures of your family Easter! I love your bright eggs! For my tile I first tried wine but it was way too pale for my taste. So I took my strong espresso and the stain has almost the same colour as the Renaissance tiles. So much fun!

  11. So I tried your challenge again but this time I used a purple fountain pen ink.

  12. I admire those eggs of yours! They are great! I did spill coffee this time and I enjoyed the process. I start disliking the spilling and then it comes out in an unexpected beautiful way! It is fun, I admit that!

  13. That was interesting...not the first time I've blog-tangled so using a pipette seemed an way to change it up a little.

  14. There is no Easter in the country where I live, but your images reminded me when I was a kid growing up in Switzerland. Painting the eggs and crafting nests was as exciting (if not more so) than searching for the eggs the next day.

  15. Beautiful eggs, Laura! I loved this challenge and plan to do some more stained tiles with beet juice.
